Asbestos Awareness is Important

A well designed asbestos awareness training has a strong focus on the history of the material, its characteristics, forms and potential health risks and associated with asbestos exposure. Further to that, the trainees should receive guidance in order to identify typical asbestos locations in residential and commercial constructions.
Asbestos occurs in nature as a fibrous material. Research and experiments conducted in the late 19th century indicated, that the fibers of the product had remarkable thermal qualities and when added to other materials (like Portland cement, for instance), significantly enhanced their durability, sturdiness and heat resistance. Therefore, asbestos was broadly used in a large spectrum of household products and applications.
However, in the 1970, the popularity of asbestos found a sudden ending. The medical community was able to establish enough evidence that conclusively indicated a link between – primarily occupational – asbestos exposure and the development of several respiratory diseases, including asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.
Asbestos awareness training is usually offered by reputable and licensed asbestos testing companies. You can contact you State’s Department of Health and Human Services for further information and training providers. Asbestos contractors can also be hired to test homes and properties to make sure that the air onsite is not contaminated with the toxic fibers that become airborne when an asbestos containing material gets disturbed or starts to deteriorate. It is not advisable to conduct asbestos testing yourself as the available “do-it-yourself” methods have not proven to be reliable.
